About Me

I'm bulletproof nothing to lose

Fire away, fire away

Ricochet, you take your aim

Fire away, fire away

You shoot me down but I won't fall

I am titanium

Welcome to my website!

Photographer, digital artist, Photoshop and Lightroom guru, science and technology geek.

I enjoy capturing amazing landscape scenes in unique and perhaps unexpected ways as I travel around Alberta, the Rocky Mountains, and wherever else I may go. Photography gives me the opportunity to express my creativity and allows me to present my own perspective of the world.

The challenge with photography I have discovered, and part of its allure, is capturing the light. Recording a scene with unique or unusual light, and knowing when or where these conditions might happen, is what holds the appeal of photography for me, and is what keeps me pursuing this wonderful art form.

If you like any of my photos, consider purchasing a print or digital download. Trust me: my photos look fantastic as enlargements and they really add to a room. And lucky for you, I'm not a famous photographer (yet), so my prints are affordable! When you see a photo in one of my galleries that would look great hanging on your wall, click the Buy button to get a beautiful print shipped to your door.

If you have questions about buying or licensing my photos, or would like me to photograph your special event or a real estate/commercial project, you can get in touch with me by clicking on the Contact link.

MY GEAR: I'm often asked what equipment I use, and the short answer is: it doesn't matter what's in your camera bag; it's how you use it that counts.

Camera: Canon 550D (Rebel T2i), a very capable and versatile camera.

Glass: Canon EFS 17-55mm f/2.8 USM, Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD, Canon EF 75-300mm f/3.5-5.6 USM.

Tripod, various polarizing and neutral density filters, Really Right Stuff clamp and panorama rail, Kenko Macro Extension Tubes, Kenko Pro Teleconverter, shutter release cable, odds & ends.

Post processing: Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended, Adobe Lightroom, PhotoMatix Pro, Nik Collection, Perfect Photo Suite, PhotoEngine, Topaz Labs.

As you can tell from my photos, I'm a fan of High Dynamic Range (HDR) imagery and post-processing, and I use this technique frequently when photographing landscapes, architecture, and particularly for real estate projects.

Given the limited dynamic range of most cameras, I have found that shooting bracketed exposures, and then blending those images in post-processing, gives me the greatest creative control over my images and allows me to produce a finished photo that faithfully captures the scene as I saw it. In my opinion, knowing how to effectively prepare and edit images, either in the digital darkroom or on film, is important for any photographer, and therefore must be an essential part of the artistic process.

Indeed, as Ansel Adams observed, "You don't take a photograph, you make it."

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my photos. Feel free to drop me a line.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
